As high pressure strengthens across the region, temperatures will increase with near-record high temperatures possible this weekend in many areas, mainly inland and the lower deserts, where it will feel more like summer. Expect mostly sunny skies today as highs reach the lower 70s, east winds 5-15 mph. Temperatures will increase through the weekend as we top out near 80 degrees on Saturday, cooling slightly to the mid-70s for Mother's Day, while overnight lows also remain mild, cooling to the 40s. Strong high pressure will weaken and shift eastward next week as another trough pushes into the West Coast. This will bring temperatures back down closer to our seasonal average, if not slightly below normal midweek, with gusty west winds to 20 mph at times, especially during the afternoons. Temperatures will return to normal again next weekend as our forecast remains dry.
